Game of Thrones fans exploded twitter with all sort of congratulatory messages to Carice character in GoT when the couple earlier announced that they were expecting. The weird tweet joke was a nod to her GoT character’s bizarre childbirth scene in season two, which saw her give birth to a shadow.
The couple confirmed they have a new son, who they have named Monte Pearce. Pearce, 48, and van Houten, 39, have been in a relationship since last year. Monte is their first child together.
"A cute little package arrived and told us his name's Monte Pearce," Pearce posted on a social media account. "We think we're gonna keep him. Placenta smoothie anyone?"

Van Houten is best known for playing the witch Melisandre on the HBO mega-hit Game of Thrones.
A spokesperson for van Houten, who is from the Netherlands, confirmed the baby was born last week in Amsterdam.
"She had the baby last week and she is doing very well," the spokesperson said.
