Real Madrid 2-1 Sporting Lisbon Win Become 1st Team To Retain Trophy

Champions League holders Real Madrid got their bid to become the first team ever to retain the trophy with a last gasp 2-1 win against Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday evening.

No team has managed to retain the Champions League since its 1992 inception, but Madrid are one of the pre-tournament favourites to lift Europe's premier trophy for the 12th time in Cardiff next May.

 In the 67th minute, Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane brought on Lucas Vazquez for Gareth Bale, and he replaced Karim Benzema with Morata a minute later. The two substitutions coincided with a promising stretch for Real Madrid.
