Woman Abandons Newborn Baby Girl By Roadside In Ojo Lagos, Blames Recession For Action

Miss Ifunaya Eme, a 31-year-old single mother of three has been arrested for allegedly abandoning her day-old baby on the roadside after delivery.

The suspect told police she abandoned the baby girl because her father rejected her when she was pregnant.

She said she had 3 children for her first husband but left them with her sister in Enugu and relocated to Lagos for a better life.

Eme gave birth to the baby girl around 1am on Monday and dumped her by the house gate before heading to bed.
Ifunaya Eme Confession:
"I gave birth to the baby about 1a.m. in our general toilet. .
"The man responsible for the pregnancy denied me. I was staying in Ajah, but relocated to Ajamgbadi where I was offered a job in a factory. When I thought about losing the job, I made up my mind to dump the baby that has already put me in problem.
"The baby is a child of destiny because, I did not go for ante-natal throughout the pregnancy. The day I was in labour, I did not seek assistance from anybody. I went to the toilet with a knife. I delivered myself of the baby and I used it to cut the placenta.
"In fact, I made up my mind that I must do away with the baby. I don’t want to be embarrassed in future by the baby who would ask of her father. After cleaning myself, I took the baby and dumped her at the roadside, before going inside to sleep. I never thought of going back to check her. .
"My intention was for someone to pick her and take care of her. I am sorry for my action. Nobody knew I was pregnant because I had a flat stomach. I will train her if they give her back to me."
Confirming the incident, Lagos State commissioner for Police, Fatai Owoseni, said the baby is healthy and is being taken care of by the Police.

Area residents of Prince Bello street in Ajangbadi area of Ojo Lagos informed the police about the incident.

The baby girl is currently in intensive care while her mother laments in police detention.

The now mother of four reportedly blamed the current economic recession for her wicked act.
