The women managed to steal the money when the shop owner went away to get what they had asked for. However, the man noticed that the women were trying to run away and quickly returned back to find out what had happened.
On raising an alarm, people outside the shop prevented the women from running away.
After checking up, it turned out that the sum of N5000 disappeared. Two women made an attempt to escape once again, however, the shop owner called on the neighbours to stop them.
In the words of the women themselves, they stole the money because they had lost their jobs, and had nothing to eat.
“We have stolen the money because we have nothing to eat,” said the suspects
