Dalian Atkinson dies after police Taser shot |
British Police Taser Shot Kills Dalian Atkinson
According to local media reports, Dalian Atkinson died after he was shot by British police with a Taser early Monday.West Mercia Police were called to a property in Meadow Close, Trench, at around 1.30am today (Mon 15 August 2016). Two police officers initially attended the address and whilst in contact with Mr Atkinson outside the property one of the officers discharged a Taser. Further police officers then arrived. Mr Atkinson became unwell and an ambulance was called. He was treated at the scene and taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead, ipcc reported.
48-year-old Atkinson was a former striker for English soccer team Aston Villa.
Football clubs, Fans and Friends are pained for losing one of their own.
Condolence messages flood twitter following Former Aston Villa player's death.
Aston Villa released a statement Monday saying it was saddened to hear of Atkinson's death, and recalling his memorable moments playing for the club.
Former England international Sol Campbell also expressed his shock.

"Upon arrival, Taser was deployed and a 48-year-old man, who subsequently received medical attention, was pronounced dead at approximately 3 a.m." read the statement.

The statement said that the incident had been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), "as is normal procedure," and that as a result, officials could make no further comment on the case.
