What is Currant?
The name comes from the Anglo-French phrase "raisins de Corinthe" (grapes of Corinth) and the Ionian island of Zakynthos (Zante). They are dried berries that are small, sweet, seedless, and round . There are two distinct fruits which are called currants: the dried zante grape; like a raisin, and a fresh tiny berry related to the gooseberry. Currents are black, red, or white.
